Each year at Christmas Beaufort Research Limited makes a donation to a local charity instead of sending Christmas cards. This year we decided to support Cardiff Dogs Home to help them with the great work they do in finding new homes for abandoned dogs. Some of you will know our MD Fiona McAllister has two rescue dogs (Dave and Portia – both chocolate Labradors) so it’s a cause close to our hearts.
Earlier this week a few of us popped down to the Dogs Home to meet their team. As well as our donation we took some dog treats and dog toys for residents so they can have some fun over Christmas.
Ellie from the Dogs Home explained that our donation will help fund BOAS (Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) surgery for Cariad, a female French bulldog and long-term resident who has problems with her breathing. It was shocking to find out how common this problem has become, as the breed’s nostrils have become narrower through extreme breeding.
We also had a cwtch with lovely new resident Pudding! Pudding was found abandoned and malnourished in a car park in Cardiff recently and is being nursed back to health at Cardiff Dogs Home. Fingers crossed she finds a new home soon. If you’re looking for a dog please consider adopting one – there are so many dogs needing good homes.
Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year from all of us at Beaufort!
